The Défi GES – Industrie call for projects aims to support and accelerate Quebec's climate transition. The program relies, among other things, on the realization of structuring industrial projects that could contribute to significantly reducing Quebec's GHG emissions in the short and long term.

Presentation and objectives

With a budget of $110 million, the GHG Challenge – Industry program was designed for large industrial emitters subject to the Regulation respecting the cap-and-trade system for greenhouse gas emission allowances. (RSPEDE).

The objective of the program is to support, within these companies, the realization of large-scale GHG emission reduction projects that require significant investments and for which there is no financial assistance available.

The financial support will make it possible to stimulate investment in promising industrial niches and help improve and maintain the competitiveness of Québec's industrial sector.

The program will also make it possible to accelerate the achievement of the target of reducing Quebec's GHG emissions by 37.5% below their 1990 level by 2030.

GHG Challenge – Industry relies on the innovation capacity of industries and their partners, while promoting, when relevant, a collaborative approach between businesses and the research sector.

GHG Challenge – Industry stems from the 2022-2027 Implementation Plan of the 2030 Green Economy Plan
