The Federal Community Housing Initiative – Phase 1
Through the National Housing Strategy, the federal government will invest $ 500 million over 10 years for the Federal Community Housing Initiative. This will be implemented in 2 phases.
As of 2022, eligibility for FCHI-2 will also be available to housing providers whose federal operating agreement expired prior to April 1, 2016.

- Phase 1 will: provide funding over a 2-year period to support federally administered community housing projects as long-term agreements reach their end dates; give housing providers time to prepare for modernization and transition to a new Phase II rental support program beginning April 1, 2020.
