Funding is available to agriculture, food and seafood businesses to support the adoption of new or improved traceability systems, practices, technologies and infrastructure in B.C. The programs aim to enable businesses to meet existing and emerging market and regulatory requirements for traceability systems.

Programs are jointly funded by Canada and the Province of British Columbia as part of the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership – a federal, provincial, and territorial initiative.

Please refer to the success stories at the bottom of the page to determine which program best fits your business.

The Traceability Value Chain (TVC) program provides cost-shared funding up to $75,000 towards the adoption of information sharing systems that will enhance agrifood and seafood traceability among supply chain partners.

The TVC program is intended for agriculture, food and seafood sector organizations, commercial food hubs and value chain partners.

The objectives of the TVC program are to:

  • enhance information sharing and increase the adoption of sustainable, voluntary information sharing systems that will improve supply chain transparency and meet national or international traceability standards across a sector or along a value chain;
  • assist participants or entire sectors to streamline operations, improve market access, substantiate product claims or generate economic benefits for participants;
  • increase capacity to trace animals, agrifood or seafood products and their associated attributes;
  • increase the ability of sectors and value chains to execute emergency response procedures when required (e.g., food recall); and
  • support sector and value chain commitments to the sustainable production of safe, high-quality food.
