Support program for the modernization and development of sorting centers

Discover our financial assistance program which aims to support projects aimed at improving the sorting of recyclable materials from selective collection and / or construction, renovation and demolition (CRD) residues in Quebec.

The program is divided into three funding streams. 

• The first is used to support the carrying out of diagnostics, analyzes, studies and pilots (eg: diagnosis of operations for sorting centers, feasibility study, business plan, etc.). 
• The second is used to support the modernization of an installation or a process (e.g. modification of an existing process in a sorting center in order to improve the quality of materials, industrial scale-up of a project pilot, etc.). 
• The third makes it possible to finance the development of new sorting capacities (eg: establishment, in an existing sorting center, of a new sorting line dedicated to CRD residues or recyclable materials from selective collection from ICI).

The objective of the program is to support projects making it possible to permanently improve the sorting of recyclable materials from selective collection and / or construction, renovation and demolition (CRD) residues in Quebec in order to maintain and diversify outlets. for recycling or recovery.

More specifically, the program aims to support projects seeking to achieve at least one of the following goals:

• Part 1:  Carry out a diagnosis of existing sorting operations, assess the needs for new sorting capacities OR carry out pilot projects.
  • The completion of projects in part 1 must ultimately aim to meet market requirements for sorted materials or to increase the performance of sorting operations.
• Stream 2:
  • Modernize existing sorting facilities to improve the quality of outgoing materials and thus better dispose of them, particularly in Quebec and North America.
• For selective collection materials from ICI only , modification of a process in an existing sorting center in order to increase the quantity sorted.
• Component 3: Support the development of new sorting capacities for materials not supported by existing Quebec facilities. This section is intended only for the following subjects:
  • Recyclable materials from selective collection from industries, businesses and institutions (ICI)
  • CRD residues

Only projects aimed at one of these goals are eligible for the program.

Projects promoting sales in Quebec and North America of the materials targeted by the program will be given priority.
