Towards responsible and sustainable tourism

The tourism industry is directly concerned by environmental and climatic issues, and customers are increasingly sensitive to them. The collective awareness that the pandemic imposes must be seen as an opportunity to think about the future differently and to accelerate the implementation of sustainable practices in tourism businesses in Quebec.

In order to ensure a prosperous future for its businesses and for future generations, the Ministère du Tourisme is committed to making Québec a leader in responsible and sustainable tourism. The measures it intends to implement are gathered in the Action Plan for responsible and sustainable tourism . The 2021-2025 Tourism Intervention Framework: Acting Today. Transformer Tomorrow will support projects and initiatives in line with the objectives pursued by this action plan.

Targeted results

Component 1: Support for the development of tourist attractions

The following data will be collected from beneficiaries in order to measure PADAT results:

  • expanded or converted tourist attractions and facilities;
  • adaptation of the tourist offer to the context of the pandemic;
  • implementation of good practices in corporate social responsibility;
  • implementation of innovative projects (or components);
  • increase in the number of attractions offering a multi-season offer;
  • diversification of the range of activities in the tourist region;
  • quality jobs maintained and / or created;
  • increase in responsible and sustainable tourism offer.

Goals

Stimulate private investment for the benefit of renewing the tourism offer in Quebec.

Help ensure the growth of successful businesses in Quebec's tourism sector.

Stimulate the economy of the regions by creating jobs, increasing the number of visitors and increasing tourism revenues.
