Considering the significant challenges experienced by isolated communities given their territorial context, RECYC-QUÉBEC wishes to accompany and support them in optimizing the management of their residual materials.
The objectives of the program are to support the reduction of the quantity of residual materials generated, to divert a maximum of residual materials from disposal and to increase the overall proportion of recycled materials in isolated communities.
More specifically, to achieve these objectives, the program aims in particular to:
- The implementation of measures allowing the reduction of materials sent to the isolated territories concerned
- Setting up a reuse shop or initiative
- A project to reuse residual materials with a view to the circular economy
- The establishment of storage infrastructure for recoverable materials protected from the weather
- A collection or storage project for materials covered by one or more extended producer responsibility (EPR) programs
- The implementation of a program for the dismantling of materials, including end-of-life vehicles and bulky items, in order to recover the various components
- The occasional movement of recoverable materials to treatment facilities in partnership with a transport company or working in GMR
- The purchase of equipment for the packaging of materials, such as fibers, wood, etc.
- A project to pool residual materials in partnership with ICI, such as mining or construction, renovation and demolition companies
- An analysis (for example: analysis of the regional context and material flows)
- A diagnosis of the issues, the problems present in a territory and the solutions envisaged to be implemented
- A feasibility study
- A study on the possible outlets
