Description
The Economic Recovery Work Experience Initiative is a pandemic recovery project targeted to employers and job seekers affected by the economic impacts of COVID-19. The initiative will fund paid work experiences for participants in the following priority sectors: Accommodation and Food services, Agriculture, Retail Services, Health, IT and Childcare.Job seekers gain valuable employability skills through a work experience, of up to 16 weeks, with an employer. Employers are supported with finding new talent, and connect to job seekers to address their workforce needs. Employers have an opportunity to provide meaningful work experiences for unemployed or underemployed job seekers in targeted sectors.
Employer receives cost sharing for wages:
- Employers can receive up to $6,000 per each work experience participant;
- 100% of the provincial minimum hourly wages are covered in the first month; 80% of provincial minimum hourly wages are covered in the second month; and 60% of provincial minimum hourly wages are covered in the third and fourth months.
