Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP)

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) offers financial assistance to assist in the repair, rehabilitation and improvement of existing shelters, and to assist in the acquisition or construction of new shelters and second-stage housing for victims of family violence.

• Financial support is available to create a new shelter or second-stage housing. Funding can also be provided for upgrades to existing shelters or second-stage housing, including: repairs to bring the property up to a minimum level of health and safety; modifications to make the property accessible to persons with disabilities; adaptations to provide safe play areas for children and an appropriate level of security for all occupants
