A total investment of $5 million in 2021-2022 will allow non-profit organizations, community groups and municipalities to receive funding ranging from $1,000 up to $25,000 for local projects.
The Seniors Community Grant Program encourages safe community engagement of seniors by supporting hundreds of projects focused on volunteerism, learning, financial awareness, social inclusion, elder abuse prevention, mental well-being and physical activity.
Seniors Community Grant Program
Seniors Community Grants, ranging from $1,000 up to $25,000, help community organizations’ ability to provide opportunities for greater social inclusion, volunteerism and community engagement for older adults, from the safety of their homes or other safe environments.
The Seniors Community Grant Program funds local not-for-profit community groups and organizations to deliver projects, supports and resources that help older adults (aged 55+) to:
- live independently
- live with safety and security
- stay connected to their community
- avoid isolation
- achieve greater financial security and social connections
Programming can be delivered remotely, virtually or in-person.
Eligibility
Applicants may be:
- incorporated organizations that can apply for up to $25,000
- individuals that representing local, unincorporated seniors’ groups that can apply for a maximum of $10,000
Projects must involve older adults and meet at least one of the ministry’s key priorities outlined in the program guidelines.
Approved projects are anticipated to start by June 2024 and must be completed by March 31, 2025.
