This program aims to develop knowledge in order, in particular, to better understand the consumption dynamics of people who regularly consume cannabis and to deepen the understanding of various themes related to the prevention and reduction of the harms associated with cannabis consumption. A total amount of $ 3 million is available to support this call for proposals, which will target in particular the funding of research projects and postdoctoral fellowships.
This initiative aims, on the one hand, to support the conduct of new research that will contribute to a better understanding of the phenomena surrounding the consumption of cannabis for non-medical purposes and its effects on health in Quebec. On the other hand, the Initiative also aims to position Quebec as a leader in cannabis and health research, to develop and perfect Quebec expertise and to promote the attraction and retention of talent. As part of this initiative, the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, in collaboration with the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé and the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Société et culture, is launching a first concerted action entitled "Research program on the use of cannabis for non-medical purposes: prevention and harm reduction ”.
