The Business Tourism Development Fund (FDTA) reflects the desire of the Ministry of Tourism to support the revival of business tourism in Quebec, a sector particularly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Organizing business events represents significant budgetary challenges, particularly because of the additional costs generated by health restrictions and the advent of a virtual program as an alternative.
It is therefore necessary to offer support to organizations wishing to hold such events so that they can offer an offer adapted to the context and thus promote a strong recovery.
The Ministry has entrusted the management of the FDTA to Tourisme Laval
The main objectives of the fund are:
- stimulate demand for business events in Quebec, in the short term and in compliance with health standards, as well as the economic and social vitality of communities and regions by maintaining in activity a chain of suppliers taking part in the organization and holding of business events;
- offset the increased costs caused by the pandemic;
- to support the organizers of business events in adapting their experience in the context of the global pandemic;
- to contribute to the adoption of good practices in terms of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility in the business tourism sector.
