The Young Farmer Prize is awarded on the recommendation of a jury made up of experts from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and representatives from the business world and associations. The jury chooses the winner according to the criteria defined in the nomination booklet:
- Portrait of the company and the young entrepreneur(s);
- Initial and continuous training;
- Management skills;
- Entrepreneurial vision;
- Actions implemented in terms of sustainable development;
- Commitment of the company and its members in the community;
- Technical and financial performance of the company;
- Special features of the establishment;
- Personal skills.
A young agricultural entrepreneur or a group of young agricultural entrepreneurs will have the chance to win a scholarship of $7,500. This contest reminds us how privileged Quebec is to be able to count on a motivated and daring agricultural succession to increase its food self-sufficiency.
