The Agriculture and Lands Branch advertises land for agriculture purposes through the Request for Proposals (RFP) process. This land includes but is not limited to: Land within Agricultural Areas of Interest; Agriculture land returned to the Crown; Farmland Development Projects; and, Land Consolidation Properties. The branch is seeking proposals from existing commercial farmers, part-time commercial farmers, or new farmers to lease and utilize land as an Agricultural Crown Land Lease. Interested individuals or groups can apply and outline their development proposals within the forms provided through the RFP process. Each proposal will be evaluated by the selection committee (Eastern or Western). The committee will recommend the candidate with the most suitable farm plan that demonstrates the best agricultural use of the land using the following criteria: Commercial viability; Applicant’s need for additional land; Degree to which the additional land will improve the viability of the farm land; Management and use of the applicant’s existing land base, if applicable; Markets/quotas available to the farm; Proximity of the land to the applicant’s farm, if applicable; and Proposed management and use of additional land.
