The green infrastructure stream will support greenhouse gas emission (GHG) reductions, enable greater adaptation and resilience to the impacts of climate change, and climate-related disaster mitigation, and ensure that more communities can provide clean air and safe drinking water for their citizens.

The federal and provincial governments are working together to make long-term infrastructure investments that will create economic growth, sustain well-paying jobs, build inclusive communities and support a low carbon, green economy – leading to a higher quality of life for all Canadians.

Under the federal government’s Integrated Bilateral Agreement for the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, New Brunswick will receive up to $673,217,568 over 10 years, starting in 2018, which will be distributed under these five funding streams:

  • Green Infrastructure;
  • Community, Culture and Recreation Infrastructure;
  • Rural & Northern Infrastructure;
  • Public Transit Infrastructure; and
  • COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure

The Integrated Bilateral Agreement (IBA) is the next phase of the Investing in Canada Plan, and will support new infrastructure projects, and the renewal/rehabilitation and modernization of existing infrastructure. These projects will be cost-shared between the federal government, New Brunswick government, municipalities and other partners.

Communities across the province will benefit from cleaner air and water, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, smarter and more efficient cities, faster commute and travel times and easier movement of goods for businesses.

The IBA will be managed and delivered by the Regional Development Corporation with support from partnering departments.

Organizations can apply for funding to support infrastructure projects that build prosperous communities and transition to a clean economy.
