Improve the productivity of apple orchards in Quebec. More specifically, the Initiative promotes the uprooting and replanting of problematic apple trees. The replanting of apple trees allows the replacement of uprooted trees by more efficient cultivars and rootstocks as well as the use of more productive cultivation techniques. Effects on productivity will be seen about five years after replanting.
Component objectives
- Pull up apple trees with declining productivity;
- Uprooting apple trees that are not in line with the market or demand;
- Improve the phytosanitary environment of orchards by removing potential outbreaks of harmful organisms.
Financial aid
The financial assistance corresponds to a lump sum of $1,600 per hectare grubbed up and grubbed for work carried out between April 1 , 2022 and February 15, 2023, up to $50,000 per applicant for the duration of the the Initiative, subject to acceptance of the project by the Minister.
