The Local Food Infrastructure Fund (LFIF) is a key component of the first-ever Food Policy for Canada to build a healthier and more sustainable food system in Canada. The federal government has made a commitment of $62.9 million over three years, starting in 2024-2025, for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to renew and expand LFIF and invest in local food infrastructure. Please note, the renewed LFIF has 2 components: Small Scale Projects, and Large Scale Projects.

The renewed LFIF will support simple and complex projects that strengthen community food security and increase the availability and accessibility of local, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food through food production-focused activities for equity-deserving groups, particularly Indigenous and Black communities.
