Intensive Newcomer Support (INS) Grant continues to provide Manitoba school divisions with direction for developing programming for newcomer adolescents and young adult learners in Grades 6 to Senior 4 from refugee/war-affected backgrounds, with significantly disrupted schooling.

  • To cluster newcomer students or take a cohort approach in a low-enrollment classroom setting
  • To provide for multigrade and multi-age appropriate programming; provide specialized programming for a minimum of 50% of the instructional day; provide programming distinct from and beyond the regular EAL support provided;
  • To provide opportunities for students to participate with their age-peers in general programming wherever they can be successful
