In 2020, Cycling Canada set forth on a new mission to get more Canadians on bikes, headlined by a refreshed 10-year Strategic Plan outlining Community and Grassroots as two of our four key strategic pillars. As a result, Cycling Canada continues to invest resources into the newly launched national grassroots cycling program – HopOn Canada – with the support of our affiliated provincial and territorial associations (PTSO). Understanding that the implementation of HopOn Canada programming at all levels will require extensive resources, Cycling Canada continues to seek innovative ways to support our clubs across the country.

The Community Sport for All Initiative (CSAI) component of the Sport Canada Sport Support Program seeks to remove barriers and increase sport participation rates for underrepresented groups. Its key objective is to support community sport initiatives for equity-deserving groups, in particular, Black, Indigenous, newcomers and persons with a disability.

The CSAI funding is directed at applicant organizations to administer and disburse project funding to clubs and community organizations to deliver community sport initiatives that contribute to and align with the objectives of the Sport Support Program.

Cycling Canada is thrilled to present a grant opportunity open to all affiliated clubs, made possible by the Sport Canada Community Sport for All Initiative. This grant is intended to assist clubs with the implementation and development of HopOn programming or bike fleets within their region.

Funding can be applied to the following:

  • Training Instructors and Learning Facilitators
  • Program subsidies (eg. Registration fees)
  • Equipment needs (bikes, helmets, trailer, maintenance, insurance, etc.)

Please see below all relevant information regarding the grant.

The grant application deadline is March 1, 2023 with funding expected to be disbursed to all successful applicants no later than March 27, 2023. Affiliated clubs may apply up to a maximum amount of $15,000. This may be adjusted based on volume of applications.
