High Performance Athlete Grant Call For Applications

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) and the Sport North Federation are now accepting applications for the 2025–2026 High Performance Athlete Grant.

This grant supports high-performance athletes from the Northwest Territories (NWT) by helping offset costs associated with training and competing in their chosen sport. Funding amounts for each recipient are based on athletic achievement and recognition at the national or international level.

Eligibility Criteria


To be considered for the High Performance Athlete Grant, applicants must:

  • Be a member in good standing of a recognized National or Territorial Sport Organization
  • Be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
  • Be a resident of the Northwest Territories
  • Not be employed full-time (over 20 hours per week)
  • Not be receiving payment from any professional sport league or team
  • Reside outside the NWT during the competitive season of their sport
