A donor may give funds to the Foundation with the direction to spend these funds immediately on a designated or non-designated grant program. The Board must first consider the appropriateness of the donor, (and the designated program if applicable) based on granting guidelines so as not to negatively impact the good reputation of the Foundation.
- The objectives of the Nakusp & Area Foundation are to maintain funds in perpetuity and to give out the interest, in the form of grants, to “qualified donees” which contribute to a healthy community and promote advancement in such areas as arts and culture, social welfare, education, environmental protection, recreation, healthcare and community development.
