Apprentices face challenges when they have to alternate between technical training and on-the-job training. With the Flexibility and Innovation in Apprenticeship Technical Training (FIATT) pilot project, the Government of Canada is exploring ways to support apprentices to complete their technical training.
- Through this three-year pilot project, the government will work with organizations to look at different styles of learning and alternative forms of training delivery to help apprentices complete their technical training and obtain a journeyperson certificate of qualification. Some examples include: simulator training; e-learning modules; mobile classrooms; virtual classrooms; and flexible in-class training delivery approaches.
