The Fisheries and Aquaculture Clean Technology Adoption Program encourages Canadian fisheries and aquaculture industries to reduce the potential environmental impacts of their activities. This is done by implementing clean technologies and measures.
Eligible activities under the program include putting into effect market-ready: clean processes; clean technologies; sustainable practices, such as protocols and harvesting techniques aimed at improving the day-to-day environmental performance operations of: wild capture harvesting, aquaculture facilities, fisheries processing plants. For aquaculture operators, the program will also consider support for a limited number of aquaculture innovation projects that fall into levels 7 (pilot-demonstration), 8 (pre-commercial) and 9 (early commercial) on Canada’s Clean Growth Hub - Technology Readiness Level (TRL) scale. Funding can also be used to support the adoption of clean technologies and measures used in other jurisdictions in order to use them in Canadian operating conditions.
