The financial assistance program for the development of the self-service bicycle offer makes it possible to support municipalities in the development of such an offer, all concerning the agglomerations whose project is to set up such a service. than those where it is a question of improving the existing offer. The program is financed by the Land Transport Networks Fund (FORT) and it falls within the aims of measure 5 of the active transport intervention framework resulting from the Québec Sustainable Mobility Policy - 2030 , which was unveiled on April 17, 2018.
The program aims to develop the offer of self-service bicycles in the urban perimeters of municipalities in Quebec in order to offer more choices in terms of sustainable transport to the population for short trips, all by replacing car-pooling. solo or in addition to other modes of individual or collective transport. More specifically, it aims to:
- develop a self-service bicycle service in urban areas of Quebec where such a service is not in place;
- increase the supply in the towns already served;
- diversify the offer by making electrically-assisted bicycles available to users, particularly in places where the topography limits active travel.
