Access to affordable air transportation is an important issue in Quebec and constitutes one of the biggest challenges for the tourism industry. It is in this context that the Ministry of Tourism is implementing a program that will facilitate access for tourists to remote tourist regions of Quebec by encouraging package sales. It thus wishes to increase spending by tourists in the targeted regions and their neighboring regions.
The Explore Québec program consists of offering tourists a reduction varying between 25% and 50% of the average cost of a plane ticket to remote regions of Québec purchased as part of packages created by travel agencies, tour operators and selected incoming agencies in Quebec.
The Department has entrusted the management of Explore Québec to the association Agences réceptives et forfaitistes du Québec (ARF-Québec), its preferred partner for the development and marketing of the package tourism offer in Québec.
The financial assistance offered takes the form of a grant.
Considering the terms of operation of the program, the notion of accumulation of government assistance does not apply.
The financial assistance granted to the agency will be used entirely to sell the proposed package at a reduced rate
