Technical and Professional Scholarships
Every year, the Department of Community and Government Services (CGS) offers technical and professional scholarships to Nunavummiut studying in the fields of engineering, informatics, community planning, business studies, as well as those studying firefighting, fire prevention and land administration as part of a college program.

Every year, the Department of Community and Government Services (CGS) offers technical and professional scholarships to Nunavummiut studying in the fields of engineering, informatics, community planning, business studies, as well as those studying firefighting, fire prevention and land administration as part of a college program.About
TIN is committed to fostering the development of skilled professionals within Nunavut. Technical Professional Scholarship Program for the 2025-26 academic year encourages post-secondary study in fields that are crucial to TIN’s role and responsibilities. As of the 2025-26 academic year TIN has made additional funding available for those studying in Information Management & Technology including things like cyber security, networking, telecommunications, records management, and systems and data base administration.
Eligibility and Programs
Programs are considered eligible when they directly relate to one of TIN’s many lines of business: Infrastructure, Transportation, Trades, Petroleum, Procurement, Business Planning and Management, Information and Technology Management.
Examples of eligible programs include, but are not limited to:

Application Requirements & Evaluation Criteria
To fulfill application requirements and this year’s evaluation criteria candidates are required to submit a complete application package.
- A complete application form with proof of residence and/or enrollment under the Nunavut Agreement.
- Official confirmation of full-time registration from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- A 250-to-500-word personal statement outlining:
- The chosen program of study.
- How they plan to contribute to their community after graduation.
- Their expected graduation date.
Completed applications should be submitted to TINHR@gov.nu.ca with the subject line:
ATTN 25-26 TPSP APPLICATION – ‘First Name, Last Name’.
Selection and Funding
Successful applicants can receive up to $5,000 per scholarship award, disbursed by January 31, 2026.
Applications received before the due date are evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis with priority given to:
- Nunavut Inuit residents under the Nunavut Agreement.
- Non-resident Nunavut Inuit intending to return to Nunavut for work.
- Non-Inuit residents of Nunavut.
Important Dates
Application Deadline: September 30, 2025.
Decision Notification: No later than November 30, 2025.
Reconsideration Requests: within 10 days of decision notification.
Final Decision on Reconsideration: not later than December 15, 2025.
Scholarship Funds Disbursed: By January 31, 2026.
