Critical Industrial Technologies initiative | Technology Access Program (TAP)

The Technology Access Program provides Ontario SMEs with no cost access to the CIT Technology Development Sites (TDSs) to support the development and commercialization of Ontario made products and services that integrate/adopt Critical Technologies (5G and advanced networks, AI, blockchain, robotics, quantum, cybersecurity) related to four key sectors: Advanced Manufacturing, Agri-Food, Construction and Mining. At these sites SMEs can develop, test, validate and showcase their products and services, helping disruptive innovations hit the market faster. The Technology Access Program (TAP) Program is part of the Critical Industrial Technologies Initiative (CIT) delivered by OCI (Ontario Centre of Innovation) on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade.

Ontario Small-and-Medium-Enterprises (SME) can validate an existing product or solution with free access to a Technology Development Site (Dev Site).

Program Details

The Technology Access Program enables free access for eligible Ontario Small-and-Medium Enterprises – less than 500 staff, to test their Critical Technology product at a Technology Development Site, so they can hit the market faster.

Technology Development Sites (Dev Site) unlock an operational environment that reflects target markets for SMEs to validate their solutions, accelerating their go-to-market timeline within CIT core sectors.

TCritical Technologies include: 5G and Advanced Networks, AI, Blockchain, Cybersecurity, Quantum and Robotics.

Eligibility

  • Open to Ontario-based for-profit Small- and-Medium-Enterprises less than 500 staff.
  • SME solution must incorporate at least one of the named Critical Technologies.
  • Required usage of at least 1 Dev Site for a minimum of 2 hours. Maximum site access six months.

Applicant Profile

This program is suitable for companies with Critical Technology products (fully realized or in-development) that are looking to accelerate commercialization within the core CIT sectors: Advanced Manufacturing (non-auto), Agri-Food, Construction, and Mining.
