Through this granting stream, TAF supports the region’s rapid transition to a low-carbon mobility system. This includes high-impact solutions such as electrification, shared mobility, and public transit investment. In addition to maximizing emission reductions, solutions are seen as more viable if they provide important co-benefits, e.g. increased access to mobility, improved affordability, and local job creation.
- Transportation is an integral piece of the urban and suburban fabric in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). The way we move impacts how we live, work, and play. Yet transportation also contributes a third of regional carbon emissions – and since 1990 this sector has seen the largest increase in gross emissions. We need to change the way we move people and goods around the region not only to get these emissions under control, but also to clean our air, reduce congestion, and increase our overall quality of life.
