CanExport SMEs

CanExport SMEs provides financial assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) registered in Canada to help them develop export opportunities for their product or service in new international markets.

Small and medium sized companies may access up to $50,000 in funding to assist with international market development activities. We cover up to 50% of costs for export marketing of your products and services in international markets where you have little or no sales.

Important Message from TCS - CanExport SMEs | Sept. 18, 2024: Due to the high volume of applications received, delays are anticipated. CanExport SMEs processes applications on a first come, first served basis. Applications received between April 18, 2024 and April 25, 2024 are currently being processed. 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS : CanExport SMEs has changed its cost-sharing formula to 50:50. The program now funds up to 50% of eligible costs for $10,000 to $50,000 in funding per project. The applicant is responsible for the remaining 50% of eligible project costs (in-kind contributions are not permitted).

CanExport provides financial support for a wide range of export marketing activities. Activities eligible for CanExport SMEs funding include: business travel; market research; participation at virtual and in-person trade events and fairs; adaptation and translation of marketing tools; search engine optimization; expert advice on legal, business and tax matters; and Intellectual property protection, certification, and adaptation of contracts.

Based on Government of Canada Travel Advisories, the program will also support:

• Visits to foreign market
• In-person participation at trade shows, networking functions, meetings or conferences
• Participating in a trade mission
