Maximum Eligible Amount
Government Grant
Fund Type
The Canadian International Innovation Program (CIIP) fosters and supports collaborative industrial research and development projects with high potential for commercialization between Canada and partner countries. It also stimulates bilateral science and technology networking and matchmaking activities to further new partnerships and accelerate the commercialization of research and development. The CIIP is a “seed fund”, meaning that various other public and private sector participants are also encouraged to bring science and technology expertise and funds of their own to the bilateral relationship. Partner countries are: Brazil, China, India, Israel, and South Korea.
- The expected results of the program include: increased Canadian prosperity through science, technology and innovation; Canadian companies grow; Canadian companies have increased business activities in global markets; Canadian companies have increased innovation capacity; Canadian companies have increased networking opportunities and knowledge of potential international partnerships and global markets.
- Support Canadian companies to commercialize technologies with international partners in countries where Canada has a Science, Technology and Innovation Agreement. Funding may be provided for activities that will support the development, adoption, and/or adaptation of innovative or technology-driven new or improved products, services, or processes.
Canadian SMEs can apply for up to $600,000 in funding to help cover research and development project costs while working with a partner in Brazil, India, Israel, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and the UK. When there is a call for proposals with one of these countries, Canadian SMEs and their partner can submit co-innovation project applications.
