Call for proposals for suicide prevention initiatives and alcohol and drug prevention funding programs

Not-for-profit organizations, municipal governments, and Nunavummiut are encouraged to submit proposals for community-based projects. The funded programs will support suicide prevention, suicide intervention, and suicide post-intervention through the Upigivatsi program. Proposals that address substance use will be funded through the alcohol and drug program.
The Department of Health’s Inuusivut division is accepting funding proposals for Upigivatsi suicide prevention initiatives and alcohol and drug prevention funding programs for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
Not-for-profit organizations, municipal governments, and Nunavummiut are encouraged to submit proposals for community-based projects. The funded programs will support suicide prevention, suicide intervention, and suicide post-intervention through the Upigivatsi program. Proposals that address substance use will be funded through the alcohol and drug program.
Upigivatsi provides funding for diverse activities including:
- On-the-land programs for youth.
- Connection with Elders.
- Formal counselling.
- Development of peer support groups.
- Research.
- Community training.
- Social emotional learning.
Alcohol and drug prevention programs provide funding for numerous community-based programs and activities including peer support groups, peer counselling, and substance use related training including prevention, counselling, harm reduction, and others.
Applicants are encouraged to be creative and innovative and develop programs that meet the specific needs of their community and reflect Inuit qaujimajatuqangit.
