In addition, as part of its Great Worksite for Families presented on October 21, the Government of Quebec is also announcing its intention to complete the network of SGEEs in aboriginal communities. Finally, with the recent tabling of Bill no 1 by the Minister Lacombe, the government raises another unprecedented step of offering to affirm, through agreements, the distinctiveness of SGEE in Aboriginal communities. Thus, once sanctioned, any standard provided for in the Educational Childcare Act  will be able to harmonize with the socio-cultural and geographic realities of the communities.

This call for projects aims to better meet the needs of indigenous communities. These new places will emerge either in early childhood centers (CPE) or subsidized daycare centers. With this large-scale call for projects, the government is making a first historic gesture towards Indigenous communities in terms of childcare services.
