Buddy Daye may be best remembered for his triumphs in the boxing ring. As the first Canadian Junior Lightweight Champion, he had an impressive record of 88 fights, 82 wins - 72 by knockout, with 21 of those occurring in the first round. After completing his career in the ring, he worked with numerous local, national and international regulatory boxing organizations, advocating for better medical and safety standards for boxers as well as fair pay, and fairness in the rating process. Daye was inducted into to the Canadian Boxing Hall of Fame and the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame.
