We are taking action to address systemic discrimination.
As one step toward the goal of addressing systemic discrimination, we are launching a call for proposals to establish a National Institute for People of African Descent.
This institute will:
- inform and influence policy and program development at all orders of government from a Black-centric perspective
- do applied research, knowledge development, information sharing, stakeholder engagement and network-building
- serve to improve social and economic outcomes Canada’s people of African descent, and their communities
Eligible organizations can apply for up to $7,250,000.
We will fund the project until March 31, 2024.
We will select 1 organization that will establish and put this institute into operation.
Proposals will need to align with the Caribbean African Canadian Social Services (CAFCAN’s) feasibility report of a Canadian Institute for People of African Descent. Please contact us by email at EDSC.ACNC-SBCC.ESDC@canada.gc.ca to get a copy in the language of your choice.
Eligible organizations can only submit 1 application.
This call for proposals will provide funding to a high capacity organization that will:
- expand their service offering to establish and put into operation an institute to:
- engage Black Canadian communities and leaders
- influence policy and program development from a Black-centric perspective
- inform all orders of government on policy and programming
- ensure the institute will be financially sustainable at the end of this funding period (March 31, 2024)
